Cushion

For me Geometrics brief i have done loads of patterns to send off to shops, to give them more of a context i am making a cushion, to send pictures to the owl and lion gallery to see f i can get some work in their shop. The pattern on the cushion fits with the theme of Geometrics.

Website

I started to design my website today, i photographed my prints, but i am finding dreamweaver VERY difficult!hopefully it will be finished by the end of next week though.
I decided to photograph me prints in frames to make them look more proffesional.

FMP / Occasions

I have been doing these type experiments, looking at changing type into shapes and patterns. These are just really rough initial ideas on layout paper, i am going to print them next week in two separate colors for each layer. I started doing them for my FMP but i was thinking i could develop these further to use for the occasions brief, i could start to use these shapes but using more relevant words,we will see how the test prints turn out.

Work placement

Work placement- Been to London to do another work placement at k2, the work i got to do was more varied this time, and i got to see more of what they do, i can go back in September also to work.

Keep calm gallery - whilst i was there i went to visit Hayley and Lucas at their home studio where they run the keep calm gallery.They were really nice and gave me some good advice. They gave me a list a really relevant contacts for me to get int ouch with. They told me to keep in touch, so i am going to send them one of my prints and a business card.

No days off - I also visited the studio to speak about a possible placement,i am going down for 2wks n July and if it goes well i will stay for another 2wks.

Melvin Galapon

This type is quite simple, its something for me to consider, i could make use of type from shape, as well as using the actual shapes of letters to form image.



I have emailed melvin to try and go see his studio over easter. A lot of his work is appropriate to what i am wanting to achieve. He uses lots of lines, colours and shapes, making images simplistic which is appropriate to my overarching theme for FMP.

Nepomuk

This is a design company based in Berlin, the other stuff on their website is a bit different to this piece of work, but i thought this was quite relevant to what i could do, they have taken letters and trimmed sections of the letters of, i could use this idea when i am thinking about type and how you can change it into an image, Rather than a word.

Melvin Galapon

This work is relevant to what i am wanting to achieve from my FMP, i want to take text and play around with it, so that how you would read it or the clarity of the message changes.This work is entitled clarity, it has given me some good ideas on how far i could take my typographic experiment, and start to push the boundaries of legible type.

Pre easter tutorial / 1st April

Easter plan- After my tutorial i basically need to tie my briefs together so that they are absolutely finished.I also need to think about an end product for my FMP, i have ideas about what i want to do but i need to think about what product i can apply this to,hopefully work placement over Easter will give me some ideas.
