Because studio _ Design context

Because studio compiles of one designer based in Wigan. His stuff is really nice, some of the work varies from comercial print to more experimental print. Ive chosen to include because studio in my design context because allot of the ideas behind the work are simplistic, i particularly like the print _ i was ment to be foiled but time are hard. Also i stated in my statement of intent that i wanted to start using colour allot more, the because studio shows how i would like to use it perfectly, the colours are kept simple an din blocks, but are still effective in aiding the work.

Ron Ryan _ Design context

Although Rob Ryans work is not similar to what i do, and its quite intricate rather than simple, i have still decided to include him in my design context. His shapes and illustrations cn sometimes be hectic, but because of how he crafts them and the colours used i think they always have a nice clean feel to them. He has a shop in London and has just recently opened up a shop in New york. I was recommended to him by the Keep Clam Gallery, so i am going to visit his hop whilst im on my work placement in July.

FMP - Bus timetable

I emailed first leeds to ask them to send me through a large scale bus timetable to produce images from. I was thinking of dong three concertinaed books, but also some large fold out posters to the scale of the foldout bus timetable shown in the pictures,the plan is that these could sit on the wall with the book for the exhibition. The book is split into sections, all the ones - nines and so on,but the posters could be more experimental,where continuos block pattern is created.

We spent a day developing the cover. Originally we were going to do large 3D letters, with blue around the edges, as shown in the photo, but they were taking far to long to produce and very difficult, so we decided to use foam board, photograph it from the top so that the shadow spelt out "interior design 09". This image os not the final photograph, we will be lighting it to get the shadows straight and a better quality image.We are taking the finished book to Steve on friday so if he approves the front cover, we will re - shoot it and send it off next wk.

onlab

I have included onlab in my design context, but i have used these images because they are quite a good idea for the poster that i could produce for my design context. I intend to produce A6 postcards with one sided images on then put stickers on the back with there contact details on. But i was wanting to produce a fold out posters as well to sit in with the postcards, so these images are good ideas as to how i could do this.

This work is allot more illustrative than i am aiming for, but i thought it was an interesting continuos pattern, and something to consider when my work develops.

David Pearson

I have sent off some questions to david for my design context - most of his work is book based, He works freelance so i was interested in seeing how he got into book jacket design and how he went about getting jobs as it is something i would consider doing.

Allot of his book covers are simple and make use of shape, so i also asked him why he thinks simplicity is effective, and why he chose to do a range of covers using shapes.

His work is good to look at because its good to see how my work could be put into context, ie. a book jacket cover.
